Fleas and internal parasites such as worm can be very dangerous for a puppy so it is important to treat for these as soon as possible. Both require the use of poisons to kill the parasites; flea shampoo for fleas and worming pills to be given internally for worms. To ensure that this is done safely I strongly recommend that you take your puppy to the vet for an evaluation and qualified dispensing of the right products and directions for safe treatment.
When you treat the puppy for fleas don’t forget to treat his environment too, the fleas you see on your puppy represent just 5% of a flea populations; the other 95% are eggs, pupa and larva in the pet’s environment. There are easy to use premise and yard sprays available at your pet supply store that will help to prevent re infestation.
