Puppy Behavior
I just bought Frankie yesterday and she seems very depressed,. Is this normal for a new puppy in new surroundings? She doesn't eat much all she does is sleep and lay around!!Please help me make her transition better!!!
Just like with people, coming into a new environment can be very stressful. If your puppy has been separated from their mother or siblings they may be feeling some depression and anxiety. This can lead to inactivity and lack of appetite. Crate training is a great way to give your puppy a safe and secure environment to sleep and relax. It’s their personal den.
Providing stimuli for your puppy can help dramatically as well. Enrolling your puppy in a Pet Training class will provide interaction with other dogs on a consistent basis. Having your puppy attend Daycamp will provide some play time with other dogs as well.
Keep in mind you should rule out any health issues as well. Please see a veterinarian to ensure that your puppy is healthy.
