TV Food Expert Ingrid Hoffmann Delivers a Delicioso Treat With Her Dog
Ingrid Hoffmann has received national fame for her English and Spanish cooking programs (Simply Delicioso on Food Network and Delicioso on Galavision), while providing decorating and cooking tips for BuenHogar (the Spanish version of Good HouseKeeping). On her Spanish program, she loves to bring her dog Salsita on the show to give her advice on her preparations on the show. Bubbles of thoughts appear over Salsita’s head with comments on the food or the date that Hoffmann would have for the day on the show, but is usually caught up in trying eat crumbs that fall onto the floor.
Hoffmann’s love for dogs stemmed when she was a child. Having grown up with dogs all her life, welcoming Salsita to the family was only natural. The Yorkie is always with Hoffmann, whether being on the show or just helping her relax at home. “He’ll get on top of me, lie on my neck like a fur color and we sleep that way,” Hoffmann explains on her times to relax in between tapings. “The minute he does that, that helps me calm down. Animals are therapeutic.”
With broadcasting shows in two languages, it can get overwhelming for Hoffmann, but she finds it exciting. “It’s a fun challenge. The different food, styles, and concepts, it becomes two different shows.” The excitement continues with Salsita, who loves to push his bowl to his owner, telling her that he’s hungry. “He is really a ruler,” Hoffmann says. “When he wants something, you can’t get away from not doing it.”
Hoffmann is already committed to getting another dog in the future. Her passion to helping out dogs from the pound is something she feels that she has to do. Until the day she welcomes home a new best friend, she and Salsita will both continue to be partners both on and off the television screen.
